a) What is a river?

b) What are tributaries and distributaries? Give example.
Tributaries:
These are smaller rivers or streams that join a main river. For example, the Yamuna is a tributary of the river Ganga.
Distributaries:
These are smaller streams that branch out or come out from the main river. For example, the Padma and the Bhagirathi are distributaries of the Ganga.
c) What are the three stages of a river?
The three stages of a river are the upper course, the middle course, and the lower course.
D) How do rivers help us?
Rivers provide a source of water for various uses, including drinking, irrigation, and transportation. They also support diverse ecosystems and can be used for generating hydroelectric power.
d) Name some important lakes of the world.
Some important lakes of the world include Lake Superior, Lake Victoria, the Caspian Sea (a large lake), Lake Baikal, and the Great Salt Lake.
e) Which is the largest delta of the world?
The largest delta in the world is the Ganges Delta (also known as the Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta or the Bengal Delta).
f) How can we use a pond?
Ponds can be used for various purposes, including irrigation, aquaculture (fish farming), watering livestock, recreational activities like fishing and boating, and as habitats for wildlife.
